PAGSCI JOINS AYF '15

Mary Junette Andale and John Gregory S. Negoso, Grade 10 stduent at Pagadian City Science High School, together with Mrs. Janet S. Negoso, principal, and Mr. Mohamad Ali E. Ramber, physics teacher, participated in the ASEAN Youth Forum held last September 7-11 at the Royal City Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

The AYF aims to orient the participants on the five themes of the ASEAN Curriculum Sourcebook: Knowing ASEAN, Valuing Identity and Diversity, Connecting Global and Local Communities, Promoting Equity and Justice, and  Working Together for a Sustainable Future.

A total of 98 students, 49 teachers and education officers coming from Thailand, Cambodia, Laos PDR, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, who underwent a rigorous selection process attended the said event.

"I saw new faces, tasted new food and heard new languages form different countries but I knew deep inside my heart that we were all gathered for a noble purpose. As catalysts for change, we all have the same goal working towards a peaceful and progressive ASEAN community", Andale said.

According to Andale, the activities that were prepared by the orginizers and facilitators of the said event have led to a better understanding about leadership and the ASEAN community.

Mrs. Negoso and Mr. Ramber, together with the two PagSci students, have started orienting the students about the ASEAN Community 2015 and Beyond in order to mold and develop holistic ASEAN youth.
